EAST HILLS, NY — CareConnect announced today that it has joined with Peconic Bay Medical Center (PBMC), the largest hospital on Long Island’s East End, to further expand its customer-service model of health insurance in Suffolk County. This marks the latest network expansion of the insurer, which since its launch in 2013 has increased its service area from Long Island, Queens and Staten Island to include all of downstate New York.
By bringing PBMC into its network, CareConnect is adding a 200-bed hospital that serves over 7,000 inpatients and 168,000 outpatients every year to its existing network in Suffolk County, which is currently anchored by Huntington Hospital and Southside Hospital. In addition to being able to access the medical center, CareConnect members on the East End will benefit from the addition of the following to their network:
- A designated stroke center in Riverhead;
- Centers of excellence in joint replacement and bariatric surgery;
- A certified home health agency;
- A 60 bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation center;
- Community-based primary care and specialty physician practices.
“Long Island is where CareConnect started and a place that we care about deeply,” said CareConnect president and chief executive officer Alan Murray. “So we are excited to be able to extend our network and strengthen our services throughout the eastern part of the island. We strive to provide our members with access to the highest quality care, and with the addition of PBMC, we are proud to offer the best.”
With the addition of PBMC, CareConnect’s network has grown to approximately 20,225 provider locations, with hospitals and physician practices throughout downstate New York. This recent expansion follows on the October 2014 announcement of the CareConnect Alliance Partnership, which increased the insurer’s list of affiliated providers by adding Maimonides Medical Center, in Brooklyn; Montefiore Health System, in Bronx and Westchester counties; Mount Kisco Medical Group, in Westchester, Putnam and Dutchess counties; Northern Westchester Hospital, in Mount Kisco; Phelps Memorial Hospital Center, in Sleepy Hollow; and Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, in Brooklyn. CareConnect members now have access to providers throughout Long Island’s Nassau and Suffolk Counties, New York City’s five boroughs, and Westchester County.
